Key differences between balm and wax:
Balm- soft consistency, light natural hold, beard looks natural, healthy, and well kept. Applies effortlessly to hair and skin and absorbs quickly so you don't notice anything in your beard. Best for daily use for a healthy beard.
Wax- medium to hard consistency, thicker feel, medium natural hold, beard looks styled. Lanolin has been added to the formula to offset the higher wax content and still provide deep conditioning properties. Harder to apply all the way to the skin and absorbs slowly. Best for styling before going out for the night, or for a deep conditioning after a long day in the elements.
Both the balm and wax can be used at the same time, just use the balm first to strengthen the hair and condition the skin. Then apply the wax for a well groomed, styled look.

United StatesI have only recently started growing a longer beard that requires beard wax - I’ve tried a number of brands and Badass is by far the best of the many that I tried. There’s a great feel to the wax when in my beard. It had a medium hold, is not greasy or oily, and doesn’t transfer to my hands like most of the other waxes and balms I’ve tried. I love a good IPA and was hopeful that the Brewmaster scent would remind me of a hoppy beer but the scent, while pleasant, is not strong enough in my opinion. Could use some fresh hops added during packaging like the El Burrista has a coffee bean sitting on top. My favorite Badass scents that I’ve tried so far are the Viking, Bushwacker, El Burrista and Brewmaster. I don’t care that much for the Pirate or Mountain Man. I still want to try the Ladies Man, Patriot, Outlaw, Royal Knight and Original scents, but I’ve got months worth of Badass wax to use up first. I look forward to trying some of the other seasonal waxes that Badass offers throughout the year.
